1. CONFERENCE INFORMATION AND DEADLINES
The Conference Committee values your contribution to this important irrigation event. The organisational and administrative requirements outlined are designed to facilitate the preparation of quality conference proceedings and the delivery of interesting and informative presentations.
Deadlines
The Irrigation Australia 2008 Conference will be held on 20-22 May 2008.
The deadline for the submission of the following is Friday 29th February 2008.
(1) Papers
(2) Biographical information.
(3) Conference Registration.
The deadline for the submission of your audio visual requirements
is Friday 29th March 2008.
Presenter Requirements
It is a requirement of the Irrigation Australia 2008 Conference Committee that all presenters:
(a) Be Registered for the Conference
And
(b) Provide a copy of their paper and abstract for inclusion in Conference Proceedings.
Please contact the Conference Secretariat if you require clarification on these matters.
Proceedings
Prior to publishing, all papers will checked for format but will not be edited.
Authors are advised to check their documents carefully as no proof reading will be done by the conference committee. Papers submitted by the stated deadline will be published in the electronic Conference Proceedings which will be available to conference delegates.
The final Conference Program, including speaker presentation and session times, will be available in late February.
2. PREPARATION OF PAPER
Structure
The paper should conform to the following basic structure;
1/ ABSTRACT
2/ INTRODUCTION (Major contents of paper)
3/ SUMMARY and/or CONCLUSIONS and/or RECOMMENDATIONS
4/ REFERENCES
The Text
The following are the requirements for the preparation of all papers.
1. Format - MS Word
2. Page size - A4 (International Standard 210 mm width x 297 mm height)
3. Manuscript length - Typical length 4 to 8 pages, Maximum length 10 pages.
4. Text font - 11 point Arial
5. Spacing - Single
6. Title - 12 Point Arial, upper case, bold
- Author details, 11 point
- Include employer/organisation details.
- List author details 2 lines below Title.
7. Headings - Upper case 11 point Arial, bold.
8. Margins - Top 12 mm, Bottom 20 mm, Left 20 mm, Right 20 mm.
9. Paragraphs - Commence at the left hand margins, No indents.
- Text justified.
- Leave one line space between paragraphs.
10. Page numbers - Do not number pages.
11. Foot notes - Do not use footnotes.
Diagrams
It is preferred that diagrams be contained, in electronic format, as part of the paper. It is recommended that either "tif","bmp" or jpeg formats be used.
Referencing
If the author's name is part of a sentence, within the text, the date of the publication should be included in brackets. eg. according to Simpson (1998).
If the authors name is not part of the sentence include the authors name and date in brackets. Eg. ..... new developments (Simpson 1998)....
References should be listed at the end of the paper alphabetically. If there are multiple listings of the same author, references should be listed chronologically. They should be presented and referenced in the following manner. The following information should be included ; author surname, author initials, date, title, journal or publication, volume, total pages of article.
Should the reference extend beyond one line, further text should be indented 10 mm.
For example;
Simpson, B. G. (1998) The effect of the colour of water on the infiltration rate of dark
volcanic soils, Journal of Springfield Soil Science, 15, 78-99.
S.I. units
The International Standard of Units is to be used in the paper. For example:
kPa, L/s, kW, kWh, m/s
3. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
An electronic copy of paper and abstract is required by email or disc.
It is the strong preference of the Conference Organising Committee that all papers
should be forwarded by email to the Conference Secretariat to dfabiew@etf.com.au
All discs or materials should be clearly marked and identified prior to forwarding to the Conference Secretariat.

4. COPYRIGHT
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of their papers. The conference organisers accept no responsibility for statements made by authors either in written papers or in presentations.
Authors should ensure that the contents are edited for style and content and where relevant, cleared for publication by employers, clients and or the copyright owner of any material which is reproduced.
5. PUBLISHING RIGHTS OF IAL
Authors (and/or other copyright holders) are required to permit the Irrigation Australia Limited (IAL), free of any fee, to publish their papers in the conference proceedings (either printed or electronic), to quote from their papers in pre-conference publicity or in any other materials associated with the conference, and to sell copies of the proceedings after the conference.
6. GUIDELINES TO PRESENTERS
The standard presentation time will be 20 minutes. It is recommended that the actual presentation be 15 minutes in duration and 5 minutes available for questions and discussion.
The preferred method of presentation is with computer based Data Projectors such as "PowerPoint" presentations. This equipment will be available in each conference presentation room.
The preparation of materials for use with audio visual equipment is the responsibility of the presenter.
Other audio visual equipment including overhead projectors may be available. Prior to the conference you will be asked to specify your audio visual and video equipment requirements.
Session chairpersons will be in contact with presenters prior to the session. Presenters are requested to contact Conference Registration Desk on arrival so that they may be introduced to the Session Chairperson.
7. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
The following information will be required to allow presenters to be appropriately introduced by session chairpersons.
(1) Paper title
(2) Full name
(3) Preferred name for introduction including title.
(4) Current position, job title and employer
(5) Qualifications
(6) Previous experience and career highlights (50 to 100 words)
