MEMBERS OF THE IRRIGATION AUSTRALIA BOARD


Andrew OgdenANDREW OGDEN | Chairman
Since commencing in the irrigation industry in 1987 as a Graduate Engineer with Western Irrigation, Andrew has made his way becoming the Managing Director of the company in 1993, a position he holds still. Andrew has been actively involved with Irrigation Australia in WA throughout his career, and in October 2014 was elected to the position of Chairman of Irrigation Australia. Andrew places a high priority on increasing recognition of the irrigation industry and its members as valuable contributors to the effective management and use of Australia’s most precious resource – water. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Western Australia.


PETER HAYES
Peter has 30+ years of experience in the wine industry serving many Executive, Managerial, Educational and Research roles across the public and private sector. Peter is currently an Independent for the wine sector strategy, R&D, Innovation and advisor for projects in Australia, India, and the UK. He is also Deputy Chancellor of Charles Sturt University and serves in several other roles. Peter holds many qualifications including a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne, Diploma of Education from Monash University, Bachelor of Applied Wine Science from Riverina College (now CSU), and a Masters in Horticulture from UC Davis.


LES OLIVIERI
Les has more than 30 years of experience in the irrigation industry. Les is currently the General Manager of HR Products and has held that role since 1986. HR Products is an Australian owned manufacturer, importer, and distributor of irrigation equipment for residential and commercial applications. Les holds a Bachelor of Business Degree (Finance and Economics) from Curtin University. Les has been a member of IAL for over 25 years and he has held various roles with the association being its WA Division Treasurer and also is on the Audit and Risk Committee of the National Board.


MOMIR VRANES
Momir is the Chief Technical Adviser and Team Leader at Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations. He has over 30 years of expertise in Water Resources Planning and Development, Sustainable Water Resources Development, Dam Design and Irrigation Development. Momir has held various professional positions including Chief Technical Adviser, Project Co-ordinator, Regional Team Leader, UN Project Director, UN Program Officer / Manager. He holds a Master Degree in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering and Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering and has been an active IAL member in Queensland since 2000.


KATHRYN EDEN
Kathryn Eden has a wealth of experience in the irrigation industry. Kathryn has been the co-owner of Greene Eden Watering Systems Pty Ltd for 22 years and is responsible for the administration, financial and company secretarial functions of the company. Kathryn also handles WHS, central control management of approximately 40 sites to IPOS Code of Practice, and Autocad drawing. During the late 1990’s Kathryn was an active Committee Member and Chair of the (then) Irrigation Association in South Australia. Kathryn holds tertiary qualifications in Sales and Marketing.


PETER BRUECK
Peter has more than 30 years of experience in the irrigation industry. Peter is currently the Principal Consultant of Water Wise providing water infrastructure consultancy. Peter specialise in the design of irrigation and water management systems for the landscape and sports turf industries in the public, private sectors, domestic and golf sectors. Peter has been a member of the IAL for over ten years and is also a current member of IAL’s Certification Board. Previously, Peter has taught TAFE irrigation modules and was a guest speaker at the 2014 IAL Gold Coast national conference.


BRUCE SCARTERFIELD
Bruce has worked in the irrigation industry for 35 years. He has a wealth of knowledge in commercial irrigation, agriculture irrigation, water treatment, water infrastructure and industrial water systems. Bruce is currently the General Manager of the Services Division for Total Eden. Bruce also holds memberships with The Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, Landscape Industries Association of WA, Master Builders Association of WA, and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of WA. Bruce believes that the irrigation industry needs to be regarded as a trade so that we can attract younger people to the industry and provide them with a structured career path.


PETER DURAND
Peter has held a variety of roles throughout his 17 year career in the irrigation industry. These roles include research work on irrigation channels in the Ord Irrigation Area, working for an irrigation dealership, and a series of roles in Netafim Australia encompassing sales, technical and management. Currently, he is the Business Development Manager for Netafim and in this national role, he travels to all of the main irrigation regions of Australia. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (with Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Management with the Australian School of Business.


IAN PENNO
Ian has more than 27 years of experience in the irrigation industry. Ian founded Barmera Irrigation in the Riverland region in 1990, focusing on drip irrigation and pump systems, which subsequently became Think Water Barmera in 2007. Throughout his years with Barmera Irrigation and Think Water Ian developed a great knowledge in irrigation control systems, automatic filters and fertigation. Ian spent many years on the Board of Think Water Australia and Think Water New Zealand. Ian was elected as a Board Member of Irrigation Australia in October 2016 and has a strong passion for training and is determined to promote improving the standards of irrigation training.


JOHN PIVAC
John is the General Manager Sales Australia and New Zealand with Philmac and has held this role for nearly eight years. Previously John held a senior executive role for Marley New Zealand for nearly 17 years. John believes that as a result of working in both New Zealand and Australia he has a great appreciation and insight into the water related sector in the irrigation markets of both countries. During his time at Philmac he has experienced the highs and lows that come with working in the Australian rural irrigation landscape. John was elected to the Irrigation Australia Board in October 2016 and has a vision to improve the standards of the industry.
